As much as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Sizing the unit is of critical importance; one that is too large or too small will not heat or cool efficiently. Our Title 24 consultant calculates the volume of interior air to be conditioned; the amount, type and location of glass in the house; and passive solar design strategies when calculating the size of the unit to be installed. At Playa we are installing an EnergyStar forced air unit for heating and a separate air conditioner for cooling which will share the same ducts for delivery to the rooms. After the ducts are installed air flow technicians record and measure all equipment readings including supply, return, room temperatures, static duct pressures, cfm, and measurable airflow from each vent. The ductwork is inspected for any problems, air leaks, or restrictions. Lastly, the technicians check the air filter, and make necessary adjustments including adjusting duct dampers for optimum efficiency and comfort.
